The choice of coffee

There is obviously no secret, the most important remains the choice of coffee, in your supermarket or on a specialized site like Grain de Café (our favorite site!). Favor ground coffee, but you can also grind the beans yourself (expert mode) thanks to our manual grinder.

First and most important tip: we recommend that you open a disposable Nespresso capsule and take out the coffee - you will notice that the grind is extremely fine, it's almost powder! This is what you will need to be looking for to get the best result and a well-concentrated coffee.


Among all the coffees we have tested and approved, here are some suggestions from our customers: Lavazza Qualita Oro, Lavazza Crema i Gusto and Illy Classico coffees are very successful and are available in most supermarkets.

Besides the brand and intrinsic quality of the coffee, there are three other factors that influence the way the coffee flows from your machine: the type of grind, the jam / tamp and the amount of coffee used.

Note: 9 times out of 10, if the result is not optimal, it is because of the type of coffee used.

The different types of ground coffee

The fine ground coffee - "Fine" - the one we recommend!

The fine type ground coffee is the one that will allow you to obtain the coffee with the strongest aroma. If your coffee is finely ground, as is usually the case with espresso blends, it is not advisable to apply too much pressure when tamping. This is what we meant when you open a disposable capsule.

Tamping - Tamping / Stuffing

The degree of pressure applied during the tamping process is a key part of the process to achieve quality coffee. The taste of coffee changes depending on the pressure applied! In general, the best results are obtained when the capsules are not filled with compressed coffee on top.

So, rather full-bodied or sweet?

Amount

A logical assumption: the more coffee you put in, the stronger it will be. However, it is advisable to buy a naturally strong coffee so that you do not have to overload the capsule.

Golden rule

Try until you find the perfect mix! Based on feedback, our customers have told us that they have found the perfect alloy in less than 5 tries and are now getting much better coffee than with disposable capsules.

The question you all ask yourself: and the foam in all this?

The Ecopods in-house technique: once your capsule has been inserted into the machine and after having pressed the button to launch it, press it again just before the coffee begins to flow (or as soon as it starts to flow). The idea is to have hot water that gets stuck in the capsule. Wait about 10 seconds for the hot water to soak into the coffee, then restart the machine to let the coffee flow into your cup - you will get a delicate, creamy and flavorful foam.
